27 Days Until We're Cruising: Cruise Must Haves
Good afternoon and Tuesday followers! I hope everyone enjoyed their long week.
Today, I'll be talking about my up and coming cruise. We are officially at the 27 day mark for our cruise. I've been counting down for this vacation since we booked it in June. But what better way to celebrate the final leg of the countdown then with a post about it!
For 5 days, I will be internet and cellphone free coasting away on a Carnival cruise. We're leaving out of Charleston and we will be spending 2 days at sea and 2 days at port. The two port stops are Nassau, Bahamas and Princess Cays, Bahamas. With the temperature dropping into the 20s and the highs being in the 40s here in Raleigh....this girl I can't wait for a little sunshine. The hardest part about this cruise for me is packing. I am a chronic over-packer. I want to pack 10 outfits for 5 day trip. However, I will have to be strategic when packing for this trip. Per carnival cruise, my suitcase must not weigh over 50 lbs and cannot exceed 16 inches in heigh and 24 inches in width. With that being said the Belk Charity sale was last weekend and I picked up this beautiful hard back suitcase that fit those restrictions....and it was only $40! Here's the link if you're interested (I am not affiliated with Belk just trying to help everyone get a good deal): https://www.belk.com/p/ciao-hardside-spinner-luggage-/62002631176481.html?dwvar_62002631176481_color=670321852933#start=1
Now that I have new suitcase it's time to start packing and I know it sounds crazy to start packing 27 days before we leave but literally the next few weekends are packing with Thanksgiving travel, an engagement party, and then we leave so it's really not as much time as it sounds like. It's obviously not summer in where I live so I had to go to Shein for some swimsuits. This was my first order from them so there will definitely be a review post about that coming....maybe sometime next week?
The best advice I was given about packing for my cruise was to try to pack light weight clothing items so that I can get the most out of bag and to not pack too many pairs of shoes because they add a ton of weight. With that being said, I am planning on packing my 5 swimsuits, a few two piece sets (super easy to throw on and light weight), sandals (and some other pair of shoes that I have yet to decide on), and of course the basics.
If you've made it this far into the post, I appreciate it because I know it's been rather lengthy. I'm sure you're only reading this to find out what I consider to be the most important items to pack for your cruise.
1. Obviously, the most important thing you need is your passport or birth certificate because without those you're not cruising anywhere.
2. Carry-on. The carry is super important because you won't have access to your luggage right away so if you definitely want to have your documents, swimsuit, and reading material (if you're like me and like to read by the pool).
3. Sunblock. Even those of us with dark skin want to make sure that we're protecting our skin.
4. Emergency medicine kit. You never know if you're going to need ibuprofen or medicine for sea-sickness and you do not want to pay an arm and a leg for something you could've just put in your checked bag.
5. Reading Material. I'm an avid reader and plan on spending most of my time reading next to the pool or on the beach with a drink in hand.
I'm so excited about this cruise that I wanted to make a post about today and I did but I will really dive into when we get back from it. Tune in on Thursday for my favorite biscuit and gravy recipe.
Until next time,
Danielle
